Hot Shot Services – Community Involvement

Hot Shot Services is proud to be an active member of several community organizations.

Pay to Play

In 2007, HSS started the Pay to Play program, the rules are very simple; employees that pay $2.00 are allowed to wear jeans on Fridays. Since the program started HSS has collected just over $3,575 in cash and other donations. HSS employees suggest a non-profit organization or a family in need; donations to the chosen agency or family are dispersed every two months.

  • CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)
  • UNM Cancer Research & Treatment Center
  • Lupus Foundation of America
  • Arthritis Foundation Greater SW Chapter
  • Daniel Rios Family Donation
  • Make a Wish Foundation
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Albuquerque & Rio Rancho
  • Roadrunner Food Bank
  • American Red Cross
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters
  • Horses for Hero’s
  • Citizen Schools

In addition to participation in these ongoing programs, HSS responds to our community crisis.  Examples include providing transportation for a puppy to California for a family staying at the Ronald McDonald House, transporting water and supplies for the Red Cross during the Little Bear fire in NM.

Run for the Zoo

Hot Shot Services has provided all the logistics management for Run for the Zoo at the New Mexico BioPark since 1996. Our team of volunteers is up very early to get all the necessary signage up throughout the runners course as well as all the tables for water and snack distribution, and of course chairs for anyone that needs a rest during the day. HSS also provides the Run for the ZooGear Storage for all the runners, allowing them to focus on the races and know that their valuables are safe and sound until they need them.

Run for the Zoo has contributed nearly $2 million to the Zoo; with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit the Rio Grande Zoo. The monies raised are used for educational programs and the development and capital improvement of the New Mexico Bio Park Society. The Bio Park Society also services Rio Grande Botanic Garden, Albuquerque Aquarium and Tingley Beach, to further improve the community.
